Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia has launched for PC, however, PC players have been experiencing issues and errors with the game namely “Launcher Not Working”, “Game Not Launching” and more.

Here we will discuss all the issues and errors with the game and will also provide you with a possible fix or workaround so that you can play the game without any problem.

Thrones of Britannia Effects Volume Not Increasing, Green Screen And Fixes

Thrones Of Britannia is the latest stand-alone expansion for Total War that “combines huge real-time battles with engrossing turn-based campaign, set at a critical flashpoint in history”.

The following are the errors and the issues that PC players have been experiencing with the game along with their possible fix or workaround.

Launcher Not Working, Game Not Launching

Some PC players have reported that the game’s launcher is not working for them. However, the solution to this problem is very simple.

All you have to do is log out of the Windows and log in again the launcher will reset. Just start the game and enjoy.

However, if this doesn’t resolve the issue then try the following.

  • Update GPU drivers(Do a clean installation)
  • Install all Windows Updates
  • Install DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable

You will find the DirectX files and Visual C++ Redistributable in the game’s installation folder under “_CommonRedist”. If not, then you can just download them from the internet.

Game Not Running At 2K/1440p

Some players have reported that they are unable to play the game at 2K/1440p resolution as the game doesn’t give them the option.

To fix this issue, open up Nvidia Control Panel if you have an Nvidia GPU and go to “Adjust Desktop Size and Resolution”. Here you will see an option “Perform Scaling” and the value selected for it will be “GPU”. Just replace the value with Desktop and save it.

Now start the game and you should be able to change your resolution to 1440p in the video options.

Effects Volume Not Increasing, Master Volume Reset Fix, Audio Fixes

Some Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia players have reported that they are experiencing issues with the audio settings of the game like the effects volume no increasing at all or resetting after leaving the menu.

To fix this issue, all you have to do is go to “C:\Users\yourpcname\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\ThronesofBritannia”. Delete everything in this folder and start the game again and you should be able to change the values for audio. The same goes for the master volume resetting.

Audio stuttering is another issue that players have been experiencing. To fix this issue, go to Playback Devices by right-clicking the audio icon in the bottom right of your display and select your default devices which in most cases will be “Speakers”.

Open up properties and go the “Advanced Tab” and here you will see a drop-down menu. Here you will have to do a trial and error as there are many options and one of the options should resolve the audio stuttering and audio buzzing issue.

Black Screen Fix

Black Screen is rather a common issue that pops up for PC games. The fix for this issue in Thrones of Britannia is very simple all you have to do is start the game and you will again see the black screen.

Just press “ALT + Enter” and the game will go into windowed mode. Now go to the settings and change the resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you will be able to play the game in fullscreen without Black Screen bothering you.

Green Screen Flicker Fix

Some PC players have reported that they have been experiencing Green screen flickering while playing the game in fullscreen. The solution to this issue is simple, all you have to do is open up the Nvidia Control Panel and select “Change Resolution” under “Display”.

Here you need to check the “Use Nvidia Color Setting” and select the “Highest (32-Bit)” and hit apply. Start the game and play the game in fullscreen and the issue will not bother you anymore.

MSVCP120.dll Is Missing

If you are facing this error then you can try a couple of solutions to fix this.

The first solution is to install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 and the issue should never bother you again.

However, there is another solution that you can try but we don’t recommend it so it at your own risk. Search for “MSVCP120.dll” on the internet and download it and then manually place it in the game’s folder. This should resolve the issue.

Low FPS, Sttuttering Fix

Many PC players have reported that despite their system being more powerful than the game’s recommended system requirements there are some serious frame rate drops in the game along with constant in-game stutter.

The solution for this issue is simple. All you have to do is start the game and then open “Task Manager” and click on “More Details”. Now select the “Details” tab and find the game’s exe. Right-click on the exe and change the priority any option above “Normal”. This will resolve the frame rate drop issue and the constant stutter in the game.

You can also try to update your GPU drivers to the latest version as they bring optimizations for latest games. Furthermore, you need to check if there is a background process running that is using too much HDD which can cause stutters. Close that application for a smoother experience.

Furthermore, if you have GTX 10 series GPU then open the COntrol Panel and select “Manage 3D settings”. Here click on “Program Settins” and select the game from the drop down menu.

Now look for the V-sync option and selct the option Fast and hit apply. This should resolve your low FPS or stuttering problem.
