One of the reasons that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has seen so much success and appreciation in the past decade is because Marvel Studios has never rushed into installments just for the sake of it. Each of the three phases were planned well in advance and it is the same case with the upcoming phase four as well.
Speaking with AP News in a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige laughingly pointed out that it is always great to see fans try to speculate on what is coming next but the truth is that they simply cannot.
He went on to add that future plans for the MCU have already been discussed in recent meetings and this covers the next seven years from now. Suffice to say, whatever Marvel Studios is cooking up will leave fans surprised.
“I thought, ’We have Black Panther coming out in three months! They don’t even know what’s coming,’” said Feige. “We’re always thinking ahead. Just when people think they can pin us down, we go somewhere else and that’s going to happen again after Infinity War in the build-up to the next Avengers film. And we had meetings earlier today about 2024 and 2025.”
It was last week when Feige confirmed that the Eternals are being prepared for an introduction in the MCU. This was just after reports began surfacing about phase four taking a cosmic direction in the near future.
While Marvel Studios does not intend to reveal these plans until after phase three is done, the space-focused installments in the MCU could possibly feature the likes of Annihilus, the Silver Surfer, Nova, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and such. This is, of course, once the deal to acquire 20th Century Fox goes through for Disney later this year.
