Sony Has Sold 76 million PS4 Systems Since Launch And Predicts Further Increase

Sony has recently revealed their financials for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018. The company has announced that it has sold 76.1 million PS4 consoles since the launch and has shipped $19 million units in the fiscal year.

Selling 76.1 units since launch is really impressive and will overtake PS3’s lifetime figure this year which is 80 million. But the numbers are slowing down for Sony. The company sold 20 million consoles in 2016 as compared to 19 in 2017. Sales are declining but still, the company expects to sell 16 million more units this year which will end in March 2019.

These sales are not a problem for a giant like Sony, as the company continues to grow further. As for the games and services they have brought 17.8% more revenue than before reaching $17.7 billion. Operating income has also increased up to 30.8 percent to $1.6 billion.

Sony is predicting a decrease in revenue this year due to fewer hardware sales and increase in profit by the increasing number of people buying games and PlayStation memberships.

By having 73.6 million PS4 sales, PlayStation 4 is the biggest console of this generation. As for competitors the Xbox recently released their financial statement of their console. Gaming revenue for Xbox has increased by $345 million which was driven by Xbox software and services revenue of 24%. The Xbox Live users have been reported at 59 million.

One huge advantage PlayStation has over Xbox is their exclusive games which are a proof as seen by the recent release of God Of War. God Of War debuted at the top of Uk charts and is the fastest selling game in the series after God Of War which released back in 2010.

God Of War is a masterpiece and everyone can’t stop talking about how much good it is including big names like Mike Ybarra from Xbox and companies like Guerrilla Games, Remedy Games, Naughty Dog, and Insomniac games.
