A French video game magazine called Jeux Video has given us a good bit of new Shadow of the Tomb Raider information, which not only shows off how Lara Croft will look in the new game, but also a few characters that will be making a return to the story.
These characters are mainly from the very first Tomb Raider game, the Crystal Dynamics reboot that came out in 2013 and showed Lara Croft on her first true adventure on the mythical island of Yamatai. Jonah Maiava, who mainly featured in the first Tomb Raider game but is also Lara’s boyfriend, is one, while the other two include Lara’s close friend Sam Nishimura and Joslin Reyes, a minor character from the first game that managed to survive Yamatai.
However, despite all of this new Shadow of the Tomb Raider information, we don’t really have any sort of idea of what the game will involve. With the first Tomb Raider taking us to a long-lost island, while the second took us to the icy wastes of Siberia, all we really know is that this Tomb Raider will involve an eclipse in Mexico, and has been described as the moment when Lara truly becomes the Tomb Raider.
We’ll probably be encountering some other kind of mystical artifact in Mexico, likely related to the Aztec Empire due to the location of the game. Whether it means we’ll be fighting a group of zombified Aztec warriors, or someone trying to use the power of the eclipse to become immortal, or some combination of the two, hopefully it will be just as good as the other Tomb Raider games.
The new Shadow of the Tomb Raider information also reiterates the game’s release date. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be releasing for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on September 14.
