John Wick: Chapter 3 Synopsis Teases Bloody Escape From New York City

The streets of New York City are going to be painted in blood red when John Wick: Chapter 3 finally hits theaters next year.

According to a new report from Collider earlier today, the official synopsis has surfaced and pretty much confirms what we already surmised would take place in the upcoming sequel.

John Wick: Chapter 3 will pick up right from where the second installment left off and have the eponymous hitman running for his dear life. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) broke a central rule by killing Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) inside the Continental Hotel and hence, has now been marked as “excommunicado” — all membership benefits (including protecting) and access to other members terminated.

With a staggering bounty on his head, the “f**king nobody” and his beloved dog will attempt to escape the city alive, killing anyone who gets in their way. In that light, the upcoming movie is probably taking place entirely in New York City.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

It was reported earlier this year that directer Chad Stahelski is bringing back at least three cast members for the finale. This includes Ares (Ruby Rose), the mute assassin; Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), the head of the underground assassin faction; and Cassian (Common), another assassin from the club.

John Wick: Chapter 3 has already begun principal photography and is scheduled to open in theaters on May 17, 2019.
