AMD Ryzen 2000 series just came out and the numbers are pretty impressive. AMD CEO Lisa Su took to Twitter in order to congratulate the AMD team for their efforts. AMD has the market covered when it comes to the number of cores and threads in the mainstream lineup of CPUs and there is no denying that the CPUs are good value for money as well. While the AMD Ryzen 2000 series does not beat Intel at gaming, the CPUs have not been marketed to beat Intel at gaming either.
The marketing has always been pushing the number of cores and threads and a value proposition as compared to the products that we already have on the market. While AMD Ryzen 2000 series is a refresh, it is better than the previous generation chips and it does close the gap with Intel. The following is what AMD CEO Lisa Su had to say about AMD Ryzen 2000 series:
Great to see the enthusiasm around 2nd gen AMDRyzen from our fans! One of my favorite quotes from PCWorld – “In the battle of Intel and AMD’s flagship processors, the clear winner today is the Ryzen 7 2700X.” Very proud of the AMD team – the best is getting better
We also need to keep in mind that this is Zen+ and not Zen2. Zen2 will feature better performance and more efficiency. This is a refresh at the end of the day but there still seem to be a lot of people interested in the product. While AMD has refreshed the lineup this is not something that the company can rely on long term.
Intel has taken a beatdown for only providing marginal upgrades year after year and AMD cannot make the same mistake. I am pretty sure that AMD knows of this and will not go down the same road as Intel.
