SNK Bringing Neo Geo Classic Edition For The 40th Anniversary

Following the success of NES Classic and SNES Classic from Nintendo, Sega announced that it would be releasing its Genesis Mini in 2018 and now SNK has jumped onto the Classic Edition bandwagon and has announced Neo Geo CLassic Edition for its 40th anniversary.

The company revealed in a Tweet that as part of the 40th-anniversary celebration, SNK will be rolling out the Neo Geo Classic Edition which will come with a number of classic games. However, SNK didn’t reveal the console itself and nor the games that will be featured in the console.

This year, SNK celebrates its 40th anniversary It is with gratitude towards the fans who have supported SNK’s titles, including The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, and Metal Slug, that we introduce a new game machine that compiles the popular titles of Neo Geo! Please look forward to it. The Future is Now!

It seems like we will be looking quite a few Classic Editions of older consoles that also feature classic games as NES and SNES Classic Edition came with their respective classic games.

However, it remains to be seen if NEo Geo Classic Edition will come with pre-installed games or will allow players to install classic games of their choice as NES and SNES came with pre-installed games and didn’t allow players to install any other game.

But, the SNES mini was hacked to run more retro games. According to the modder who developed the hacked tool, pretty much any SNES game can run on the new SNES Mini Classic. Even the emulator embedded in the system can play NES games.

However, this not the only classic console from Nintendo which has been hacked to install new games as previously NES Classic Edition was also hacked. A Russian hacker found a way to install new games to NES Classic using USB cable.
