The Witcher 3 Update Comes With HDR Support but a Adds Visual Bugs on PS4
The Witcher 3 update was supposed to bring long-awaited graphical improvements with HDR support for PS4 Pro in the game which it has but according to reports, it has brought some serious graphical issues as well.
After months of waiting CD Projekt Red finally brought HDR support to the game which fans were asking for a long time.
Following The Witcher 3‘s PS4 1.61 patch, players are reporting on the official Projekt Red forms, Resetera and other social media platforms that thee are terrible graphical issues affecting the game post-update. One of the major issues listed by a user was draw distance problem meaning when the player moved away, everything behind slowly started to disappear. It can be seen in the video below.
Along with this terrible issue, these were the main features included in the update:
- HDR Support.
- Various Performance Optimizations.
- Stability Improvements.
- Localization bug fixing.
- Minor visual improvements.
This issue is being faced by both PS4 and PS4 Pro players. One affected user has posted the following on the official forum site of CD Projekt RED.
I recently updated to patch 1.61, though in-game it reads 1.60 and I’m playing on a 1080p tv with super sampling enabled. The differences are very obvious switching between 1080p and 4k. Firstly, 1080p super sampling has disappeared entirely and must be enabled in system settings. Second, the pop-in (trees in the distance mostly) is horrendously bad while in 4k mode.
I haven’t yet experienced any of the graphical errors while in 1080p and the framerate is solid so I’m sticking to this mode until 4k is fixed, as should all 1080p users.
Witcher fans are not excited about this new update and are looking forward to a solution for this issue as soon as possible.
