Avengers: Infinity War Director Responds to the Missing Hawkeye Footage

There are only three weeks remaining before Avengers: Infinity War releases in theaters worldwide but Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) continues to be missing from every single promotional material that has arrived to date. This includes the trailers, television spots, posters, and even planned action figures.

The entire absence seems to be on purpose from Marvel Studios and has caused a few concerns among fans that the character might not be featured in the upcoming highly anticipated movie — a strange occurrence if it comes to play. Thankfully, an assurance has been relayed by the directors that says otherwise.

Speaking with GamesRadar in a recent interview, co-director Anthony Russo noted that there is a very good reason for Hawkeye to be missing.

“All will be explained when people see the movie,” Russo said. “It’s all tied into the story.”

The statement at best just confirms that the character will have an important part to play in Avengers: Infinity War. It should be noted that the character was previously teased to have a “special spot” in the upcoming movie. In addition to rumored plot twists, what could Hawkeye be doing?

Taking into account that Hawkeye has not been shown battling either Thanos or his Dark Order, there is the possibility that he is on a different mission — perhaps to find the last remaining Soul Stone?

Avengers: Infinity War will open in theaters worldwide on April 27, 2018, and in China on May 11, 2018. It will be the first of a two-part series. The untitled sequel, presently dubbed Avengers 4, is slated to premiere on May 3, 2019.

If not the first, then Hawkeye will surely have a much larger role to play in the second installment.
