In addition to the highly anticipated third season, My Hero Academia is also receiving a full-fledged movie treatment this year — the very first for the critically acclaimed anime based on the manga of the same name.
The teaser trailer released earlier today offers a brief look at what to expect, including a few surprises for fans. Izuku Midoriya appears to have gotten more control over his superpowers and can be seen wearing an upgraded costume. More interestingly, All Might — for some reason — makes an appearance as his younger self.
The official synopsis reveals that following the final exams, the students of U.A. High School will be sent on a field trip for the summer break. However, Midoriya and All Might will receive a special invitation before their departure to head out to a man-made floating city called “I Island” instead.
This is a hub for all the top scientists in the world where research continues daily on perfecting quirks and creating supplements for heroes. Midoriya comes to meet a girl named Melissa here who is quirkless, just like how he used to be before meeting All Might. The newfound friendship will be cut short when a mysterious villain attacks the island and takes everyone hostage.
“My Hero Academia: The Movie — The Two Heroes” is scheduled to release on August 3, 2018. It will bridge the recent second and the upcoming third season, which is scheduled to arrive on all associated networks from April 7, 2018. There will be twenty-five episodes in total and see the students enduring an advance training regiment that is designed to push their quirks to new heights.
