Sea Of Thieves Breaks Records This Generation, Microsoft Couldn’t Be Happier
Microsoft has shared some amazing figures from the launch of Sea Of Thieves. Even though the game has debuted to mixed reviews, it surely has received a fair amount of fan enthusiasm and support due to the overwhelming pre-release hype. Keeping that in mind, Microsoft has recently claimed that Sea Of Thieves is the fastest selling new IP of this generation.
The game that had the potential to pass 1 million unique players in 48 hours, can certainly become the fastest selling new IP of the current generation.
The game has amassed 2 million players already, which also includes Xbox Game Pass players. Recently Craig Duncan, the studio head at the Rare, gave a statement regarding the sales, that most of the community found confusing.
According to his words, Sea Of Thieves is the fastest selling first-party new IP of this generation. He further added that the community is growing day by day and now has more than 2 million players.
The worldwide excitement for Sea of Thieves has made it the fastest-selling first-party new IP of this generation. Having witnessed more than a million players on launch day, our community continues to grow and now has more than two million players. Alongside this, Sea of Thieves is already the best-selling Microsoft Studios first-party title on Windows 10… More than 100,000 players have streamed Sea of Thieves since launch, resulting in more than 10 million hours watched in the last week… More than half of a million new Xbox Live friendships have been forged to date and over 400,000 players have joined an Xbox Club to find pirates to share stories with.
Based on a report from Forbes, the fastest selling figure does not include those who played the game as part of Xbox Game Pass, so only those who bought it outrightly have been included.
Realizing that, this game is the Fastest Selling New IP, we certainly think that this game has a lot potential and hopefully Rare is also aware of that. So it would be better if the occurring issues and bugs that keep popping up from time to time are also dealt with.
