Outlast 2 has launched for Nintendo Switch and there is no denying it that the game looks just as beautiful on Nintendo Switch as it looks on current-gen consoles, however, there are some compromises that have been made to make it run on Switch.
Digital Foundry took the chance to compare the Nintendo Switch and PS4 version of Outlast 2 and the results are very impressive considering the game is running on lesser hardware compared to PlayStation 4.
While the game does look impressive but at a close inspection, it is revealed that some compromises were made to make the game run smoothly on Switch.
Texture quality is among the most noticeable things that have been toned down to make Outlast 2 to run on the hybrid console.
Furthermore, the game runs at a 30 FPS on Switch which is low compared to 60 FPS target on PlayStation 4 but, the game runs smoothly on Switch no matter if you are playing in the handheld mode or docked.
As for the resolution, the game runs at 720p in handheld mode and the docked mode runs at 1792×1008 which is 93% of the full HD pixel count and is a target that many Switch third-party ports have failed to achieve.
Speaking of Switch, Studio Wildcard has now confirmed Nintendo Switch version of Ark Survival Evolved. Not only that, the studio has also noted that the Switch version will not be much different from PC and console version.
The Switch version of the game is being developed by Abstraction Games and Switch version of the game will feature complete content and features of the PC and console versions of the game. Meaning nothing will be cut from the game to make it run on Nintendo Switch.
Outlast 2 is a first-person horror game available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
