The curtains are finally being lifted to unveil the new Predator sequel that has been in the works for the past three or more years.
Taking to Twitter on the weekend, director Shane Black assured fans that the first trailer is going to be arriving soon. In addition, he confirmed (in his own way) that the upcoming sequel will take place in a classic jungle setting, unlike the rather tedious installments that followed through the years.
If you were to observe the teaser image very closely, there is something hiding in the dense bushes below with a blue shimmer. Did the alien creatures return for another hunt with a few major upgrades?
“The Predator” will be the fourth installment in the action science-fiction franchise and is intended to be a reboot. The movie will be a sequel to Predator (1987) but take place between Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010) for those who have followed through the previous installments.
The plot, fairly straight forward, will focus on military veterans encountering an alien ship while traveling through a suburban neighborhood to reach a veterinary hospital.
We have been promised plenty of hardcore violence, with bleeding and splintered spines hanging from the trees for starters. The promised footage arriving in the coming days will offer a better idea of what to expect.
Black actually had a supporting role in the original movie. While his character “Hawkins” was killed off, the actor went on to produce and direct a number of blockbusters, such as Iron Man 3 (2013) and other notable projects.
The cast features Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, and Thomas Jane.
The Predator concluded production last year and reshoots just recently. It is scheduled to open in theaters on September 14, 2018.
