The Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop is good value for money if you are in the market for a new gaming laptop or are annoyed of the high priced PC graphics cards and are willing to pay extra for the portability that a laptop has to offer over a PC. If that is indeed the case then the Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop is something worth looking into.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop is powered by the 7th generation Intel i7-7700HQ processor that can boost up to 3.8GHz. For graphics, you have the Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB. Other than that you get 16 GB of RAM and 256GB SSD for storage. While the storage is a bit less, you will get fast boot times and you have the option of adding additional memory as well.
While the Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop is not thin and light like the Asus Zephyrus that we looked into, the price is not the same either and the Helios 300 is much more affordable. The display is a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 60Hz IPS panel, which is a bit dim as compared to the competition but keeping in mind the price, I don’t think it will matter too much.
For the same price, you usually find laptops with GTX 1050s or 1050 Tis, other than that you get laptops with dual-core i5 CPUs but that is not the case here. You are getting a quad-core CPU and the power of a GTX 1060. The laptop cost around $11,000 which is very reasonable indeed. The GTX 1060 in the laptop performs better than the Max-Q version, which is something worth considering when making the purchase decision.
Do keep in mind that due to the discrete graphics card found inside the laptop the battery timing is not going to be all that great. While the laptop has been rated to provide 6 hours of battery, you should not expect more than 2 when gaming.
