Acer is rolling out its ACER Predator Helios 500 laptop which features the only Intel Core i9 8950HK processor based on Intel Coffee Lake-H architecture among other upgrades.
ACER Predator Helios 500 has been listed by a Polish retailer and the specs for the laptop include a 17.3-inch 1080p 144 Hz IPS display, Nvidia GTX 1070, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB M.2 SSD.
As for the price for ACER Predator Helios 500, the listing revealed it will be 11999 PLN which makes it around 3500 USD. Furthermore, this particular laptop also comes with an Intel 8750H which is around 2630 USD.
What is interesting is that Intel Core i9 8950HK is not officially announced yet so we expect the reveal of six-core mobile processors soon. This also indicates that laptop manufacturers are moving towards six-core CPUs for their premium laptops.
As for the Intel Core i9 8950HK Mobile Chip, recently benchmarks for its particular chip were leaked online revealing a boost clock of 2.89 GHz approx. 12 MB of L3 cache.
In terms of performance, the benchmarks reveal an average score of 5607 in single-core performance and an average score of 20007 in multi-core performance.
Not only this, Intel Core i9 8950HK is also being featured in an unreleased MSI laptop. The leak comes from 3DMark who tested out the yet to be released MSI laptop with dual GTX 1080 along with Intel Core i9 mobile processor.
According to the leak, the processor has 6 cores with 12 threads and the processor itself will be unlocked meaning users will be able to overclock the i9.
In related news, Intel has revealed that it has redesigned its upcoming Cascade Lake and Coffee Lake chips to counter Spectre and Meltdown security exploits.
According to Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, with the redesign, the chips will be protected against the Spectre variant 2 and Meltdown variant 3 exploit but for Spectre Variant 1, software patches are still required.
