Check Out Doomsday Trashing Everyone in Death of Superman Sneak Peek

For those unaware, the DC Animated Universe is returning for a second take on the Death of Superman, a profound storyline from the comic books that leaves the Man of Steel with no other choice but to sacrifice himself in order to stop a rampaging monster called Doomsday.

While a debut trailer lurks on the horizon, a behind-the-scenes trailer has been released to tease things to come. This includes a first look at Doomsday as the behemoth pummels the Justice League senseless. The sneak peek also features insight from co-director Jake Castorena, producer Jake Tucker, and more.

It should be noted that the original version from the source materials never included the notable Justice League members we know today. Hence, the upcoming animated take will only accentuate the feeling of helplessness as Doomsday trashes the likes of Wonder Woman, Batman, Hawkgirl, and more, leaving only Superman to deal with the unearthly foe.

The cast lineup will see Jerry O’Connell (Billions) return to voice Superman for the fourth time, alongside his wife Rebecca Romijn (The Librarians) for Lois Lane. Rainn Wilson (The Office) will lend his voice for Lex Luthor, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) for Wonder Woman, Nathan Fillion (Firefly) for Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs) for Flash, Matt Lanter (Timeless) for Aquaman, Shemar Moore (Swat) for Cyborg, and Jason O’Mara (Justice League Dark) for Batman.

When a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. Battling their way throughout America, the two fight to a standstill as they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever.

The Death of Superman will be one of a two-part series. The second part, called Reign of the Supermen, will see the people and superheroes mourn the loss of the Kryptonian as Lex Luthor starts taking over the city with his army of Supermen.

The Death of Superman will release this summer on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital downloads. Reign of the Supermen will arrive on the same formats early next year.
