Henry Cavill’s Superman Cameo Teased Again for Shazam!

It certainly appears that reports from earlier this year about Henry Cavill making a Superman cameo in Shazam! carried substantial weight.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, manager Dany Garcia teased a new photo of herself talking with Cavill on a mysterious set. While the silhouette alone reveals the actor, a quick brightening of the purposely darkened snap confirms Cavill to be “planning” something “goood” for the fans.

It should be taken into account that Garcia is also an executive producer on Shazam! In addition, Cavill appears to be hiding his costume inside a robe. Unless the actor graced a set to don the red cape for Man of Steel 2 — an unlikely event for now, the only other project that would involve the Kryptonian in this situation would be Shazam!

It was previously stated that the resurrection of Superman in Justice League (2017) left a good impression on Warner Bros. and other officials that were internally involved. The notion quickly moved to where the Kryptonian could be placed next in the DC Extended Universe. Shazam! was the only project with ties to the character.

Superman and Shazam have come into contact several times in the comic books and developed respect along the way, even coming in to rescue each other in certain arcs. In fact, the alter ego of Shazam, William Joseph “Billy” Batson, is actually a great fan of Superman and aspires to be like him. Hence, it makes sense to have a Superman cameo in the upcoming superhero movie; perhaps before Billy obtained his powers.

Shazam! has been in full production mode for weeks now, leading to a few leaks from active sets. The movie, directed by David F. Sandberg, is set to be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.

The cast features Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena, and Ron Cephas Jones as the Wizard.
