Following the first trailer from last month, a second full-length trailer has been released for Deadpool 2 that offers a better look at the X-Force.
The “super dooper fucking group” was created in the comic books by Cable to undertake brutal missions that the X-Men would normally find immoral and unethical. However, the upcoming sequel sidesteps the source materials to have the “meric with a mouth” be the one to band together the mercenaries — all for the sake of going up against Cable himself.
The original X-Force featured Domino, Warpath, Cannonball and Shatterstar. The X-Force from Deadpool 2, however, will remove Warpath and Cannonball to make room for Bedlam, Surge, and Zeitgeist.
“We need them tough, morally flexible, and young enough to carry the franchise for 10-12 years,” Deadpool says in the trailer, suggesting multiple standalone and special appearances for the X-Force down the line.
The second trailer also confirms that Cable will be hunting the mysterious kid played by Julian Dennison, who is speculated to be a gender-swapped version of Hope Summers from the comic books destined to save both mutant and humankind in the future. The only problem is that Cable was actually her protector in the source materials.
The anticipation of Deadpool 2 was marred this month by reports about negative receptions from early test screenings. In addition, scheduled reshoots confirmed around the same time left fans concerned about the final product. Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) has assured everyone that everything is fine as far as the sequel is concerned and advised against falling for rumors.
Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch this time around, will open in theaters on May 18, 2018.
