We have been getting word that PC hardware is going to be getting expensive in the coming months but we did not know for sure exactly when. According to new reports from OEMs, the prices will start to go up next month. If you have already built your gaming PC then you have had a bit of luck. This increase in price is due to the increased cost of labor and material.
This is not the first time that we are hearing this. We got word about Nvidia graphics cards getting PC hardware to become more expensive starting Q2, 2018. While price will be increased it will be interesting to see how far the prices will go and how customers will respond to all this. While we have been blaming miners for the increase in prices of graphics cards, it seems they are not the only reason behind the increase in GPU prices. According to the company:
All new cell phones coming out by Apple and Samsung (and others) last year started using the same memory as graphics cards. Apple and Samsung are willing to pay more for this memory to make sure they get it first and all of it that they need. This has created a shortage of memory for the much smaller companies like MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, and EVGA to make graphics cards.
Massdrop’s tech community lead, Brian Hutchins talked about how the company would be working hard to get graphics cards deal as close to MSRP as possible and the following is what he had to say:
As long as I can bring them a better deal than what is currently available I will continue to do so. That being said MSRP is kind of out the window at this point so keep your eye on market price VS Massdrop as you will not see any cards out there anywhere close to MSRP for a while to come.
Let us know what you think about the increased prices of PC hardware starting next month and whether or not you were looking forward to buying some new PC hardware in the near future.
