In the wake of fans expressing concerns about Deadpool 2 reshooting additional or past scenes, the cast is coming together to assure everyone that nothing is wrong.
Speaking with Screen Geek in a recent interview, actress Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) denied all negative rumors and speculations about the sequel.
The star assured everyone that there is nothing wrong about reshooting scenes in the movie industry. In fact, the reshoots for Deadpool 2 were actually beneficial and enhanced the overall experience in numerous ways.
“I think it’s a common misconception too – that people think that reshoots are to fix things that people didn’t like,” Hildebrand explained. “A lot of the time, reshoots are to add more of the things that people loved. [Filmmakers] watch their films again and are like ‘better fix that’. Usually films hate it when you talk about their reshoots – solely because people think that it’s because the film was bad for the test audience – but it was all good.”
It was a few weeks back when claims surfaced on social media about early test screenings yielding poor receptions from a hand-picked audience, only to be later countered by more claims that early screen testings actually garnered better ratings than the first installment.
Around the same time frame, Josh Brolin (Cable) confirmed that Deadpool 2 would need to undergo some reshoots in the coming weeks. It was only natural for fans to combine both reports and be concerned about the final product.
The assurances from Hildebrand, while not dealing with the early test screenings directly, may provide hope for those feeling troubled. Then again, it could also be a pre-prepared statement handed over by 20th Century Fox to calm the waters.
Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch this time around, will open in theaters on May 18, 2018.
