What was probably a decision that was in the making for months, DC Comics has decided to hit the reset button on Justice League yet again.
The long-running publisher has tasked writers Jim Cheung (Avengers: The Children’s Crusade) and Jorge Jimenez (Super Sons) to join forces with Scott Snyder (Dark Nights: Metal) to relaunch the iconic franchise in the coming months.
The next two issues will set up the events (via Comic Book) leading into the new series, currently being penned by the recently formed creative team, that will assemble an all-new Justice League roster against yet another looming threat.
The relaunch will retain seven of the original members, while adding two faces from the animated universe: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Hawkgirl and Cyborg.
In a press release, both Cheung and Jimenez exclaimed great excitement over the given opportunity. They are not only long-time fans of

I can’t think of a more perfect book to return to DC on! These characters are ones that I grew up loving, and the prospect of being able to leave my mark on them, leaves me thrilled.”
“I feel more than ever that this is my moment,” Jimenez said. “I have in my hands a script written by the incredible Scott Snyder starring most important DC characters–Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman! Even better, I have the hyper-mega-talented Jim Cheung beside me! I can’t ask for more!”
The first issue in the new series — Justice League #1 — will arrive in stores on June 6, 2018. The second issue will follow closely behind on June 20, 2018.
