Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – What We Know And What We Want

In this article, we discuss everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, what we know so far about the game, and what we want to see it.

The new Call of Duty is always very exciting and a large part of the gaming industry looks forward to it. As always, there are tons of rumors and expectations surrounding the game and there are often some leaks which seep through the cracks. Today, we will take a look at some of the things which we know about the game. We will also give you our opinion on what we hope to see in the game, and what would make it a fitting successor to the Black Ops legacy.

What We Know About Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

As is the case with almost every Call of Duty game, we are going to see this game towards the later end of 2018. The official release of the game will be on Oct.12, 2018. Call of Duty has usually been released in November so you can enjoy the fact that you will get the game a month earlier than expected.

Along with that, the platforms that are obviously going to get a version of the game are Playstation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. These 3 are pretty much the standard for all AAA releases and this one will probably be no different.

The Switch version has not been confirmed as of yet. Nintendo Switch is starting to be a worthwhile competitor to the industry leaders and a lot of games are coming out with versions for the Nintendo Switch. Although the console lacks sufficient hardware for the same game as the one in PC, it has a lot of features that could make the game stand out from the other versions.

Chances are that the game will use Battle.Net. Activision games are starting to appear on battle.net as we saw with Destiny 2 and the fact that you can now link your Call of Duty account to battle.net seems to point to the game being available on battle.net.

We first found out that the next Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 4 through a listing found in GameStop. We also know through official channels that Treyarch is the one working on the next Call of Duty. We know that Treyarch is usually the one which works on the Black Ops games, so this serves as a further indicator that the next Call of Duty game will be of the Black Ops franchise.

According to a report from Kotaku, the game will be set in the modern day. This seems like the right choice since people were against the futuristic setting of Infinite Warfare and games set in older times have been reused over and over. A modern day Black Ops which continues on the story of the last one just might be the kick that the franchise needs.

What We Want

The first thing that we want are zombies. Zombies made a return for the first time in the original Black Ops and it would be amazing to have them once again in the game. Zombies have become a big selling point for the Call of Duty games, and it does not matter whether they do something completely new or continue doing the same old, as this mode is going to be amazing no matter what.

A good campaign is what defines the Black Ops games. The first one is still one of my favorite games in terms of storyline. Following the twisted mind of Reznov and Mason was an amazing experience, and a campaign akin to that in terms of epicness would surely be a welcome sight.

Another thing that would be amazing to see would be a Switch version. We mentioned above how the Switch can be a versatile console and can add a lot to the game despite having limited hardware when compared to the other consoles that will be supporting this release. Moreover, new peripherals are constantly being added for the switch and Treyarch could try to utilize them and enhance the gameplay.
