This year it is Treyarch’s turn to bring on the next Call of Duty game and it seems instead of going for a new kind of COD game, devs are bringing Call of Duty Black Ops 4. According to a leak from GameStop, Black Ops 4 is happening in 2018.

The retailer listed Black Ops 4 merchandise in its system. Here are a few images showing Black Ops 4 merchandise listed in GameStop’s system.

This year’s Call of Duty took us back to World War 2 and many speculated that Vietnam could be the next setting. Call of Duty Vietnam has been rumored for a long time but it seems this year, at least, we aren’t visiting Vietnam.

Black Ops 3 released back in 2015 and is one of the most successful COD games to date so Black Ops 4 makes sense for the studio. Activision has a 3-year development cycle for Call of Duty games and we have three developers working on them – Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games.

Last year, Sledgehammer Games released Call of Duty World War 2 and in 2016 Infinity Ward came with Infinite Warfare. 2018 is Treyarch’s year so we are looking forward to seeing what they bring. Call of Duty games are usually revealed before E3 2018 and a full multiplayer showing is normally scheduled for the big event.

E3 2018 is scheduled for June where Sony will show the next Call of Duty in detail and it is expected to be playable on the show floor. Sony has an exclusive partnership with Activision for Call of Duty games. Exclusive content and early access to betas are the perks PS4 gamers will enjoy this year.

Activision recently tested Call of Duty Battle Royale mode in China, could we see it Black Ops this year? Maybe.

The next Call of Duty will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is expected to be optimized for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro as well.
