Update: Black Ops 4 has been confirmed for release in October.
Original Story: Recently, a rumor started to make rounds on the internet suggesting that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster will be released alongside this year’s Call Of Duty title, however, that might not be the case and we might be getting a Call of Duty World At War Remastered this year.
The reason why we speculate the release of Call of Duty World At War Remaster instead of Modern Ware 2 is that recently Gamestop listed merchandise for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. One particular merchandise caught out attention listed as “Call Of Duty W@W ovrsz box”.
This particular merchandise is new at Gamestop as you can see in the image below also, this is a promotional item for Call of Duty 2018. This listing suggests that Activision plans to roll out Call of Duty World At War remaster instead of Modern Warfare 2 remaster.
Furthermore, World At War remaster makes sense since this year its Treyarch’s turn to release Call of Duty and World At War was also developed by Treyarch. Also, Modern Warfare Remastered launched with Infinite Warfare as both games were originally developed by Infinity Ward.
We speculate that Activision will be rolling out a World At War remaster instead of Modern Warfare 2.
Treyarch is yet to announce this year Call of Duty title but, Black Ops 4 has been predicted for 2018 as analyst Cowen & Company predicted in that upcoming Call of Duty will be Black Ops 4.
Also, a Call of Duty movie is in the works and the movie director, Stefano Sollima, has shown interest in casting Tom Hardy and Chris Pine for the movie.
While Activision is yet to reveal this year’s Call of Duty but, it will launch in its usual release window which is October of 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
