Into the Breach Units Guide – All Units, Active Abilities, Passives, How To Use

Into the Breach is a turn-based strategy game by the developers of FTL. It contains a number of Mech units each belonging to a specific category. Each one has unique passive and active skills. These Mechs are vital for the missions, as you will be controlling them to secure the islands from Vek. Understand the abilities is very important for you if you want to defend the islands from annihilation.

For this, we have curated this Into the Breach Units Guide in which we will detail all the Mechs that are present in the game and can be used by you. With the help of this guide, you will know everything there is to know about the Mechs such as their passive and abilities and which category these Mechs fall in.

Into the Breach Units

There are eight different types of Mechs units in Into the Breach. Each has further three types in which one is random unit, on is player-defined unit while each one comes with a secret unit as well. We have detailed all of them below.

Rift Walkers

The first unit that you get in Into the Breach are the Rift Walkers. They are based on push and are best used while penetrating enemy lines and pushing them back. They come with three unit types.

The first type is the Combat Mech – Prime. Its Active Ability is Titan Fist, which deals 2 damage and pushes the enemy back 1 tile. It has no Passive Abilities. The second unit type is Cannon Mech – Brute. Its Active Ability is Taurus Cannon. When used, it will deal 1 damage and will push the enemy unit back 1 unit. It also has no Passive Ability.

The last unit type is Artillery Mech – Ranged. It has Artemis Artillery as Active Ability. It deals 1 damage and pushes the enemy unit back by 1 tile. It features no Passive Ability as well. These Rift Walkers are best used when the enemy is near your base. They can push them back easily to buy some more time for damage dealers to finish them off.

Zenith Guar D

This Mech class is purely based on damage dealing while their defense mech comes with a shield as well. This shield also has offensive attacks that pulls enemies closer and it can be used two times.

The first unit type is Laser Mech – Prime. Its Active Ability is Burst Beam. When used it fires a beam, which can damage an enemy in front of you as well as the enemy behind it. However if the enemy is far, the laser will deal much less damage. The damage dealt ranges between 1 and 3. It has no Passive Abilities.

The second unit type is Charge Mech – Brute. It comes with the Ramming Engines Active Ability. It deals 2 damage to enemy while takes 1 damage in the process. It comes with no Passive Ability.

The last unit type in this category is the Defense Mech – Science. It come with two Active Abilities. The first one is the Attraction Pulse which attract enemies closer to the unit by 1 tile. Second is the Shield Projector, which places a shield around the enemy Mechs, mitigating their damage. It can be placed on two enemies in the same row and can be used to a maximum of 2 times.

Steel Judoka

This category can manipulate the position of your enemies. They come with special abilities, which allows them to move their targets around the field. They also come with the unique feature of absorbing 1 damage.

The first unit type is Judo Mech – Prime. It comes with the Active Ability of Vice Fist. It allows the Judo Mech to grab an enemy and throwing him behind the Mech dealing 1 damage in the process. It does not come with any Passive Ability.

Second unit type is the Siege Mech – Ranged. It comes with the Cluster Artillery Active Ability, which allows it to fire a projectile that will shove every nearby unit while dealing 1 damage during this. It does not come with any Passive Ability.

The last unit type is the Gravity Mech – Science. It comes with 1 Active Ability and 1 Passive Ability. Grav Well is its Active Ability allowing the Mech to pull an enemy by 1 tile. Its passive Ability is Vek Hormones, which makes the enemy deal 1 damage to its allies when they are attacking you.

Frozen Titans

Frozen Titans are the battle manipulators. They focus on converting the battle environment into their own favor. These Mechs specialize in changing the direction of the enemy attacks to favor you.

The first unit type is the Aegis Mech – Prime. It comes with the Spartan Shield Active Ability. It allows the Mech to deal 2 damage to enemies using a shield and chance the direction of the enemy attack as well. It comes with no Passive Ability.

The second unit type is the Mirror Mech – Brute. They come with the Janus Canon Active Ability, which allows them fire projectiles in two different directions each dealing 1 damage. It comes with no Passive Ability.

The last unit type of this game is Ice Mech – Ranged. It comes with the Cyro-Launcher Active Ability and fires a freezing projectile. Enemies hit with this are frozen while the Mech itself is frozen as well. It comes with no Passive Ability as well.

Rusting Hulks

They use smoke to disorientate enemies and deal them damage as well. They depend on using smoke in both offence and defense.

The first unit type if Jet Mech – Brute. It comes with Aerial Bombs Active Ability. When used, the Jet Mech jumps over the enemy and throws a smoke bomb dealing 1 damage to the enemy it just jumped over. It comes with no Passive Abilities.

Second unit type is Rocket Mech – Ranged. It comes with 1 Active Ability and 1 Passive Ability. Rocket Artillery is its Active Ability which when used fires a rocket which deals 2 damage to the enemy and pushes them back 1 tile. It also creates smoke.

It also comes with the Storm Generator Passive Ability. When used it makes all smoke tiles deal 1 damage per turn to all enemies near them. The last unit type is the Pulse Mech. Its Active Ability, Repulse, shoves all nearby units away by 1 tile. It does not come with a Passive Ability.

Blitzkrieg

This category of Mechs can deal some serious damage to enemies if they are placed in the right place. Their main specialization is moving enemies around while dealing damage.

The first unit type is Lightning Mech – Prime. Its Active Ability, Electric Whip, deals 2 damage to all nearby targets including allies. Be careful while using this ability as you might end up damaging friendly units as well. It comes with no Passive Ability.

The second unit type is the Hook Mech – Brute. It comes with Grappling Hook Active Ability that can pull enemies and allies near you. It can also be used to pull the Mech into objects for tactical advantages. It comes with no Passive Abilities.

The third unit type in this category is the Boulder Mech – Ranged. It has Rock Accelerator Active Ability, which enables the Mech to fire a boulder, which deals 2 damage to enemies and shoves them back by 1 tile.

Flame Behemoths

This category of Mechs specialize in fire as they shoot fire and projectiles that deal fire damage. In addition, all Mechs in this class are not affected by fire in anyway.

The first unit type is the Flame Mech – Prime. It comes with an Active Ability and a Passive Ability. With its Active Ability, Flame Thrower, it can shove the target back 1 tile and deal 2 damage to enemies. It can also put 1 fire tile on the enemies.

Flame Shielding is Flame Mech’s Passive Ability. With this ability, it can ensure that are friendly Mechs are fireproof. The second unit type is Meteor Mech – Ranged. It comes with the Vulcan Artillery Active Ability. With this ability, it can fire a projectile engulfed in fire on a tile, which will deal 1 damage to an enemy and shove all others back by 1 tile.

The last unit type is the Swap Mech – Science. It comes with the Teleporter Active Ability, which allows it to teleport the Mech and its target to switch locations.

Hazardous Mechs

These Mechs deal massive damage to the enemies at the cost of receiving some as well. Every attacks deals massive damage to the enemy but the Mech suffers from internal damage with each shot as well. If the Mech kills an enemy, it will recover the health lost.

The first unit in this group is called the Leap Mech – Prime. It comes with the Hydraulic Legs Active Ability, which allows the Mech to jump on any chosen tile. When it lands, it will deal 1 damage to itself and all nearby enemies.

The second unit is the Unstable Mech – Brute. It comes with the Unstable Cannon Active Ability. When used, the Mech will deal two damage to enemies and throw them away. It will receive 1 damage in return. It comes with no Passive abilities.

The last unit type of this category is the Nano Mech. it comes with 1 Active Ability and 1 Passive Ability. A.C.I.D. Projector is its Active Ability with the help of which it can fire a projectile at the enemy, which applies an acid effect on the enemy. This effect doubles the damage dealt.

It also comes with the Passive Ability of Viscera Nanobots which when activated heals the Mech after it has defeated an enemy.
