Eight New X-Men Movies Planned in Next Three Years by 20th Century Fox – Report

The most recent word through the grapevine suggests 20th Century Fox to have chalked out plans for multiple new X-Men movies that are slated to arrive in the next three years if everything goes smoothly.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter earlier today, the list includes several spinoff and standalone adaptations from the franchise. Hence, the new X-Men movies are not necessarily going to see Professor X assembling his mutants every single time.

Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are scheduled to release this year, followed by three franchise installments in 2019 and 2020 each.

What to expect in 2019?
The New Mutants and Gambit are currently slated to arrive early and late next year, respectively. This leaves room for just one more project to release in 2019 and that could possibly be X-Force because principal photography is said to begin in the coming months.

However, considering the manner in which 20th Century Fox adjusted its schedule last year, delays could be imminent. The New Mutants was originally set to release this year before being pushed ahead. Gambit has been suffering since forever, having lost its third director in recent months.

What to expect in 2020?
There are nothing but rumors and speculations to go on here. Deadpool 2 took two years in the making and hence, it is possible for a third installment to arrive in 2020. Similarly, 20th Century Fox could very well follow X-Men: Dark Phoenix with another main X-Men installment.

However, there are also a number of other projects that have surfaced recently. This includes a solo movie for Kitty Pryde, Silver Surfer, and Multiple Man.

20th Century Fox certainly seems to be keeping itself busy for the future, despite having a landmark acquisition looming overhead from Disney. There is still no word if the deal will go through but for the time being, fans will be happy to know that there are several new X-Men movies on the drawing board.
