Black Panther Fans Want Wakanda TV Series on Netflix

Wakanda has existed in the comic books for several decades but it was not until the release of Black Panther in theaters this month that fans have suddenly become very interested in learning more about the fictional nation.

According to an online petition that was started last week, there needs to be a spinoff television series (potentially on Netflix) that takes place in Wakanda. The following episodes should be scripted in a manner that tells the origin and history of the nation, highlights the diverse cultural traditions, explains the way through which it made so many advancements in science and technology, and more. Hence, the focus is not on the clawed protector but rather his kingdom.

Telling the back story of Wakanda would be a game changer. How did Wakanda become the most technologically advanced country on Earth? From the technology to the artistry coupled with the rich African traditions, the fans demand more.

The Black Panther fanbase would love to see a Wakanda Series on Netflix. This series would expand the depth of the Marvel universe and we feel Marvel/Disney would enjoy creating and adapting these stories as much as we would love watching them.

The online petition has garnered 4,500 signatures at the time of writing and is just 500 away from reaching the goal. The idea is not bad as well. There is potential in imagining a television series based in Wakanda that could involve both political and military plots. However, it is unlikely that Netflix will be the one to step in.

For those unaware, Disney is bringing out its exclusive streaming service next year. It will house all of its projects, including those related to Marvel. If the Wakanda television series does surface, Disney will be the one to pick it up.
