Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is releasing on March 23rd on PlayStation 4 and PC. The sequel to the famous JRPG is looking more colorful than ever and Bandai Namco promises that the graphical update from its predecessor will keep players “enthralled from start to finish”.
Just a month before Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom’s release, its publisher is sharing more info on its gameplay and is taking fans behind the scenes with a new video for the game and a throughout post on Playstation blog, from Dmitryi Khlynin
The basic mechanics of Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom hasn’t changed and lets you move, attack, switch weapons and characters in real-time just like you did in its predecessor. Also, the Higgledies, those little guys helping you in battle as familiars are also present in the sequel, having their own unique look and personality for each hero. Keeping basic values is important when creating a sequel and the developers are well aware of that. However, there are many things that have changed in this title.
For starters, Khlynin introduced the Kingdom mode, which will bring a more strategic character to your gameplay. Throughout the game, you have to help Evan, the main character, who is a deposed king, rebuild his kingdom. In Kingdom Mode, you’ll be able to spend points to build shops to buy items, forges to build weapons, centers to study magic and even facilities where you can build an airship to travel the over-world map.
In order to build those new facilities in your kingdom, you’ll have to assign new characters to the appropriate positions. That means that finding the right characters to add to your squad will be crucial for Kingdom Mode and not only.
The Skirmish Mode is a large-scale battle mode where you command a 4-party army assigned to your characters. As you win Skirmishes you earn Kingdom points which are essential to allow you to recruit new subjects, construct new buildings or expand your facilities in Kingdom Mode.
