The new season officially begins for Silicon Valley next month and paving the way is another brand new trailer that was released earlier today.
The original cast is all set to return for another run, except for one notable omission. Erlich Bachman (T.J. Miller) was a critical part of the tech-based comedy television series but the actor decided to part ways before the last season concluded. The writers had to send Bachman off to a monastery somewhere in Tibet, from where he is unlikely to return unless otherwise. His absence will be surely missed in the new season.
With the tech incubator owner away, the rest of the Pied Piper team will be trying to grasp their plans for a new revolutionary technological invention once again. However, much like before in previous seasons, those plans are never without their extraordinary challenges.
The fifth season will see Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), Bertram Gilfoyle (Martin Starr), Dinesh Chugtai (Kumail Nanjiani), and Donald “Jared” Dunn (Zach Woods) trying to build a new internet to make the world a better place, while pocketing some much needed income. The new trailer confirms that they will be scaling up their business by vacating their original incubator and moving into an actual office under the watchful eyes of Laurie Bream (Suzanne Cryer) and Monica Hall (Amanda Crew).
Not to mention that should Pied Piper succeed, Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) and his beloved Hooli will be rendered obsolete. Hence, forms the setting for him to respond with aggression to the impending threat from the startup.
The upcoming fifth season for Silicon Valley will feature ten episodes in total, with the first premiering on March 25, 2018. The television series has received flak for becoming too repetitive in the past seasons but the comedy aspect has remained consistent throughout. There is no confirmation on whether HBO plans to continue Silicon Valley for additional seasons.
