Black Panther Game is a Real Possibility

Marvel’s latest superhero movie Black Panther is making a huge splash at the box office as it has already grossed over $72.2 million worldwide as of February 15, 2018, despite only releasing last week.

Reviews have also been very positive for the movie, with it having a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 97% based on over 274 reviews and assigned a weighted Metacritic score of 88 out of 100.

Now it seems like the major Marvel hero might make the jump from the cinema screen to the one in your living room or bedroom.

Marvel writer Evan Narcisse, who is currently writing the Rise of the Black Panther series tweeted out to his 15 thousand something followers yesterday that:

“Y’all know where to find me when you wanna get cracking on that Black Panther video game…”

The tweet drew instant support from fans of the Black Panther character, and even games industry figures showing interest in working on a Black Panther game. Andrien Gbinigie, a community and product marketing manager for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series and a major Black Panther fan also voiced his support for the game adaption.

However, it is important to mention that the character Black Panther has made (minor) appearances in video games before such as being added to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and also starring in Marvel Future Fight, which is a mobile game that was released back in 2015.

But the kind of video game adaption, Evan is referring to isn’t a simple cameo or playable character. He means a proper game with Black Panther being the main character and most likely featuring the fictional marvel country of Wakanda.

Don’t get your hopes too high, though.

It will probably be a long time before the Black Panther spin-off game does make an appearance as an Avengers game project is currently in the works at Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics and Marvel has also stated an interest in getting into VR games, with multiple VR games already in development along the pipeline.
