Thanks to cryptocurrency mining, there is a shortage of GPUs in the market which caused the prices for the graphics cards to spike, however, every now an then an interesting GPU deal appears on the internet and one such deal has popped up on eBay for MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB variant and if you are looking to get your hands on one, this might be a good time to.
While the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 deal at eBay isn’t exactly cheap but the compared to the price hike in the market it is relatively close to the graphics card’s MSRP price. The MSI GTX 1060 is currently available for $319.99 and the stock is being quickly sold. The MSI GTX 1060 is a 6 GB variant of the graphics card.
Nvidia and AMD are trying to solve the situation by increasing their GPU production to meet the demand.
However, there is a rumor making rounds on the internet that Nvidia might have found another way to tackle the cryptocurrency mining.
According to reports, Nvidia will deliberately be block mining in NVidia Ampere powered cards at the hardware level and will roll out two separate GPU series this year. The report suggests that Nvidia will roll out Nvidia Turing cards designed for cryptocurrency miners and other series will be focused on gaming.
While these are just rumors and reports but, the implications of these could prove to be useful to end-user as separating the mining cards from gaming ones will cause the supply and demand to go back to normal and will result in the GPU prices to drop back to their original MSRP prices.
However, even if that works out well but, the prices for overall PC components will increase this year as silicon wafer price is increasing 20% this year. Silicon wafers are used to make GPU, CPU, DRAM, and Flash and the increase the wafer price will cause the increase in the PC component prices.
