The upcoming Batman Ninja animated movie has received another trailer, which is basically the same as the original one released back in December but with a few additional clips and voiced in English.
The Dark Knight has found himself in a plethora of weird situations over the decades but this new setting will probably be something that fans have never expected in terms of direction. Batman and Joker, along with friends and foes, will find themselves transported across time to feudal Japan due to a time displacement machine constructed by Gorilla Grodd.
“The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions,” a press release from DC Entertainment reads. “Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies — including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family — to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.”
The voice cast for the English version seems pretty solid from the new trailer. However, fans might be disappointed to know that Batman and Joker will not be voiced by familiar actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. That task will instead be undertaken by Roger Craig Smith from Batman: Arkham Origins and Tony Hale from Arrested Development respectively.
The animated project has some pretty big names attached to itself from the anime circles. It has been directed by Jumpei Mizusaki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), written by Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and designed by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).
Batman Ninja, a movie title that could have been better, was first announced at New York Comic-Con in October 2017. It will be released digitally on April 24, 2018; and on Blu-ray and DVD on May 8, 2018. The 4K digital format will become available sometime this summer.
