Metro Exodus Has a New Publisher, THQ Nordic Acquires Koch Media and Its AAA Property
THQ Nordic has acquired Koch Media for €121M and with it, the company now has exclusive rights of Metro, Dead Island, Saints Row and more. This means that the upcoming Metro Exodus now comes under THQ Nordic’s properties.
According to the press release, THQ Nordic has “acquired Koch Media GmbH, including, inter alia, the games developer and publisher Deep Silver with AAA-intellectual property rights such as Saints Row, Dead Island and exclusive license for Metro.”
Keep in mind that the development of the upcoming Metro Exodus will not be affected by this in any way. In fact, the revival of Saints Row, and Dead Island could be on the cards now that new owners are at the helm. Dead Island and Saints Row has been on hiatus for a long time so this comes as great news for the fans of the series.
Dead Island 2 was in development but the game got canceled due to conflicting visions between Deep Silver and the development studio. However, Dead Island 2 could be revived and pushed into active development. Surely, THQ Nordic didn’t spend this much money on these AAA properties just to put them on ice.
Right now THQ Nordic is focused on the development of Darksiders 3 and Biomutant. Acquiring Metro and other properties boost its IP library to the next level. Just last year, Nordic bought Biomutant developer Experiment 101.
Biomutant and Darksiders 3 is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Same will be the case with Metro Exodus and other IPs when they go into development at THQ Nordic.
