Splatoon 2 Starter Edition Releases In March, More Characters Get Amiibo Treatment
If you haven’t grabbed Splatoon 2 for your Nintendo Switch yet, then it was probably for a good reason. Nintendo has just announced that a new version called Splatoon 2 Starter Edition will release on March 16th, having the same price with the base game but bearing perks of a collector’s edition.
This special bundle includes the full game, a Splatoon 2 Splategy Guide and two sheets of Splatoon-themed stickers at a suggested retail price of $59.99. That’s the same price as the standalone game, so the new Starter Edition is a great value, as Nintendo indicates. The Splategy Guide a 100-page Splatoon 2 strategy guide with tips for the game’s competitive climbing.
Splatoon 2 is one of a console seller for the Nintendo Switch and beyond that, its one of the most popular competitive multiplayer games for the console. Nintendo has even released a special Splatoon 2 Switch console, bearing pink and green neon joycons as well as a themed pro controller.
In addition, two new Splatoon 2 characters are getting their own amiibo figures. Pearl and Marina, two of the most iconic characters in the game are getting amiibo treatment as part of a 2-pack set, arriving in stores later this year. Nintendo’s announcement reads:
This talented duo forms the group ‘Off the Hook,’ and has been burning up the Inkling music charts. Fans love them for their unique futuristic sound, but they’re also making quite the name for themselves as the broadcasters of Inkopolis News and Splatfest events!
Splatoon 2 is one of the most fun to play multiplayer games on the Nintendo Switch. Don’t forget that Nintendo has introduced Splatfests, a new battle mode, as well as new gear and stages, like the just-announced Dark Tetra Dualies weapon and basketball-arena-themed Goby Arena stage to the game, bringing even more fans to the title.
