There’s Another Overwatch Free Weekend Coming This Friday

Just a few days after the launch of its Chinese New Year Event, Overwatch is getting its next free-to-play period. The Overwatch Free Weekend starts February 16th and will run through 19th for all consoles, including PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Since last month, Overwatch has received two major updates bringing new content to the game including new skins, maps, and other cosmetics. The first update brought the awaited Blizzard World map to Overwatch as well as over 100 different collectibles, available in the classic loot boxes. The Lunar New Year Event, on the other hand, is a time exclusive event bringing new unlockable content and a capture the flag map to match the event.

If you haven’t grabbed Blizzard’s popular FPS title, you can now check the new content out during the Overwatch Free Weekend. The announcement reads:

Attention, recruits! If you haven’t already had the opportunity to suit up and save the world as one of the heroes of Overwatch, now’s your chance.

From February 16–19, we’re calling on all prospective agents: assemble your teams and dive in during the Overwatch Free Weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One!

During this free weekend, we’re making Overwatch’s full roster of 26 heroes and 17 maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Arcade. Players will also have the ability to level up, earn loot boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options.

If players decide to purchase Overwatch after test driving the game, they’ll get to keep any progress made during the weekend—as long as they use the same Blizzard, Xbox Live, or Sony Entertainment account that they played on.

The Overwatch Free Weekend starts February 16th and will run through 19th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As the announcement indicates, you can level up and unlock collectibles during the time. If you decide to buy Overwatch at a later date your progress will be saved.

In related news, Blizzard has also announced that Overwatch is about to receive a major feature, allowing you to change your hero’s skin during the champion selection screen. Furthermore, Hanzo has been reworked with the next one in line for a revamp being Sombra.
