Pokemon is giving its augmented reality another Go, pun intended. The latest data mining news is that Niantic is implementing story quest into Pokemon Go, probably in an attempt to bring players back to the game.

Simph Road,  Pokemon Go data mining community has just uncovered that the latest version of the game (version 0.91.1 for Android and 1.61.1 for iOS) seems to be including story quests that might be soon available on our mobile devices too. They say:

We’re looking at the beginnings of an in-game quest system that appears to encapsulate all of the mechanics available in Pokemon GO, even incorporates characters who grant them, and pre-conditions that suggest increasing levels of difficulty and progress.

We’re beyond excited to see these mechanics add depth to gameplay for all our travelers – but especially the higher-level folks who’ve largely accomplished many of their goals on the Road so far.

Remember, these mechanics are not live in v0.91.1 that we can see. It is currently unknown how long this feature may take to launch. But the fact that it’s here is a very good sign that we can expect to see this feature sooner than later!

The aforementioned story quests will be covering all aspects of Pokemon Go, from walk buddies to winning gym battles to level up a badge and so on. There are even references to specific characters such as Professor Willow, which will reportedly even have expressions: unset and happy.

Here are the attributes of quests that have been datamined:

  • Creation Timestamp
  • Completion Timestamp
  • Rewards
  • Status (Active / Completed)
  • Multipart
  • Context
  • Seed
  • Goal

There are even specific pre-conditions that have to be met before accepting or completing a quest. These involve if your relationship with the quest character is good enough, if your level is up to par or if you have a specific medal or a quest.

The Android Version 0.89.1 and iOS 1.59.1 is now available though, fixing known bugs in the game and improving several aspects of the game such as the incubator. Also, make sure to check SegmentNext’s guide on how to catch Kyogre in Pokemon Go.
