Game of Thrones Creators to Produce New Star Wars Movie Series

There is a new Star Wars movie series in the pipelines that will be written and produced by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, co-creators of the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones television series.

According to a press release posted on the official website earlier today, Lucasfilm has been greatly impressed with the masterful storytelling abilities of the duo and is confident that they are perfect to pilot the epic saga into new horizons.

“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today. Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting,” exclaimed Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

While details have not been revealed, it has been confirmed that the new Star Wars movie series will be completely separate from the Skywalker saga and the trilogy being helmed by director Rian Johnson. There is also no word on how many movies will be featured in the new lineup, but it could be another trilogy in the making.

This leaves the fans to start speculating on what exactly the new Star Wars movie series will revolve around. Whether it will be a sequel or prequel? What era and characters to expect? It is unlikely that acknowledgements on such questions will be given anytime soon.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are currently busy with the final season of Game of Thrones, which is slated to wrap up filming later this year and premiere in April next year. Hence, the first installment in the new Star Wars movie series cannot possibly hit the silver screen before 2021 at the very earliest.
