A FIFA 18 World Cup mode is apparently going to be coming to the game next week as DLC in preparation for the 2018 World Cup happening this summer in Russia. It will be an expansion pack instead of a full new game, likely because FIFA 19 is coming out this year.
It’s been 4 years since the previous World Cup, which happened in Brazil in 2014 (several months before the Summer Olympics.) As is the deal with most major sports events that involve the entire world, the four year gap is now over and soon Russia will be inundated with huge crowds of people from all over the world wanting their team to win the coveted World Cup trophy.
With the FIFA 18 World Cup mode DLC, players will be able to lead their own national teams to victory, which can help to soften the blow somewhat if your team loses in the early rounds or gets robbed of the trophy in the finals of the event.
The DLC pack will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions of the game, though the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game haven’t had any word said about them yet. Spanish commentator Manolo Lama will be providing commentary for the gameplay within the DLC pack.
Considering that the 2018 World Cup will be starting in June, it’s likely that EA will be releasing the FIFA 18 World Cup Mode DLC sometime before the tournament starts. Whether that means several months, several weeks, several days, or possibly the day that the tournament starts, there’s no telling when it will come out until EA actually announces it.
The FIFA 18 World Cup mode will be releasing on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game. IOf you’re a FIFA owner and a soccer fan, then be on the lookout for when it drops later this year.
