Captain America Activates New Wakanda Shield in Avengers: Infinity War Super Bowl LII Trailer

There was a new trailer released for Avengers: Infinity War during the broadcast of Super Bowl LII this weekend to offer the first official look on the new Wakanda shield that Captain America will be wielding against Thanos and his diabolical plans to balance the universe.

The thawed superhero is shown equipping a gauntlet shield, made from the Vibranium found beneath Wakanda. The compact factor may leave fans confused but the Wakanda shield can be activated to unfold into something much larger.

The new action figures for Avengers: Infinity War in the Marvel Legends lineup were leaked last week to reveal Captain America with a new heater shield that moves away from the familiar disc-shaped design and red-and-blue color palette. It is with certainty that this will be the final form of the Wakanda shield in the heat of battle.

Captain America abandoned his signature disc-shaped shield at the feet of Iron Man in the events of Captain America: Civil War before going into hiding. The previous trailer for Avengers: Infinity War had T’Challa ordering the Wakandans to “get this man a shield” after telling them to prepare all defenses for the city. There is no telling if the original shield will find its way back to its wielder.

Captain America is not the only one getting a new weapon in the upcoming highly anticipated movie. Thor will be wielding Jarnbjorn, a gigantic battle axe, instead of Mjolnir since the mystical hammer was destroyed by the bare hands of Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.

Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters on May 4, 2018. The untitled sequel, presently dubbed Avengers 4, is slated to premiere on May 3, 2019.
