Rumor: Call of Duty 2018 Will Be Black Ops 4, Will Launch For PC, Current-Gen Consoles And Switch
It is no secret that Call Of Duty is an annual franchise with three major developing studios working on it and with Sledgehammer’ Call of Duty: WW2 release, fans are looking forward to Call Of Duty 2018 and a rumor has made its way on the internet suggesting that it will be Black Ops 4.
The rumor comes from an industry insider, Marcus Sellars, who claims that Call of Duty 2018 will be Black Ops 4 and will launch on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
Furthermore, the game will be set in modern times and will feature “boots on grounds” gameplay which might indicate that the game will be much more similar to Original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 in terms of gameplay so fans shouldn’t worry about wall running and jetpacks.
COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.
However, given that it is just a rumor, take it as a grain of salt as Activision is yet to announce the game. But, the game returning to “Boots on the ground” gameplay makes sense as Call of Duty: WW2 was praised for returning the franchise to its roots and seems like Activision is looking to continue the trend.
As for the game coming to Nintendo Switch, given that Activision has launched Call of Duty titles for Nintendo consoles, like Call of Duty Black Ops 2 for Wii U, it makes sense the game will also come to the hybrid console given its massive success.
Also, this is not the first time Black Ops 4 has been predicted for 2018 as analyst Cowen & Company predicted in that upcoming Call of Duty will be Black Ops 4.
