Sony Sold 9 Million PS4 Systems in 2 Months

Sony’s PS4 sales have gone well over 76 million units across the globe. The company revealed earlier that its 4th PlayStation console has been a huge success with 76.5 million units sold to date. According to data shared by the company, 9 million PS4 units were sold between October and December 2017 which is a massive number for such a short period, especially, for a console that’s always 5 years old.

Announced and released back in 2013, PS4 is one of the fastest selling consoles in history. In released alongside Microsoft’s Xbox One, a console that has struggled to maintain stable growth in the market. Xbox One’s lack games have proved to be a major factor in it finishing in second place.

However, Microsoft is putting extra focus on Xbox’s first party studios to make sure a drought like this never happens again.

As for PlayStation 4, this year many great games are releasing including God of War PS4, Days Gone, Spiderman PS4 and more. There are also rumors that Ghost of Tsunami is coming in 2018 as well.

This fall season is expected to be even bigger for PlayStation 4 and predictions are that PS4 would cross 100 million units by the end of 2018. It can become the highest selling console in the world when and if it surpasses PS2.

With millions of units sold, Sony is focusing on adding new features to the mix. PS4 update 5.50 will reportedly add supersampling. Meanwhile, Sony will launch PlayStation Network name change feature before PSX 2018.  The event is scheduled for December of this year where the company will share its plans for 2019.
