Nintendo’s Super Mario Odessey has crossed 9 million units in sales. According to the latest numbers shared by Nintendo, Super Mario Odessey sales currently stand at 9.07 million units worldwide. Odessey released back in October 2017 so by December 31, 2017, Super Mario Odessey sold over 9 million units.
Mario’s latest outing came to Nintendo Switch as one of the few exclusives for this platform. However, it looks like Mario is all Switch needed as millions bought the game within a few months. If we look at the data provided by Nintendo, first-party sales are impressive.
- Super Mario Odyssey – 9.07 million units
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 7.33 million units
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 6.7 million units
- Splatoon 2 – 4.91 million units
- 1-2-Switch – 1.88 million units
- ARMS – 1.61 million units
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – 1.06 million units
Nintendo Switch is a goldmine for developers right now due to its amazing revenue potential. We are seeing more and more third-party developers showing interest in Switch development. According to a report from GDC 2018, developers interest in Switch is rising:
This is a big deal for Nintendo, given that in our surveys respondents typically favor PC, mobile, PS4, and Xbox One. However, this year Switch surpassed Xbox and mobile in terms of developer interest; as mentioned, 36 percent of respondents said they were most interested in the Switch, while 30 percent said smartphones/tablets and 28 percent said Xbox One/One X.
As far as the console itself is concerned, it has sold 7.24 million units in the last quarter. Sales are booming so expect big things from the Nintendo.
