The first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp was officially released by Marvel Studios earlier today to give fans a glimpse of how far the shrinking technology has come since the thief-turned-superhero found his calling a couple of years back.

The superheroes aren’t the only ones going down to the molecular level. The upcoming movie sequel will shrink skyscrapers to the size of a portable luggage, entire cars to a miniature toy, and all manner of objects that come to be standing on an everyday street.

Ant-Man and the Wasp takes place a few years after the events of Captain America: Civil War in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and before the galactic conflict that will come to be in Avengers: Infinity War.

Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, is trying to deal with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and father. While he struggles to balance both responsibilities, he is approached by Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, once again for an urgent mission. This time though, he will be teaming up with Hope van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly, who has her own suit that comes with cool upgrades such as blasters and a pair of wings.

The plot revolves around rescuing the original Wasp from the quantum realm, which was teased back in the first movie. In fact, her loss was one of the major factors that the doctor was not in favor of having anyone else touch his shrinking technology. It appears that he has finally been able to pinpoint her location in a space beyond the capabilities of any man-made microscope.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will open in theaters on July 6, 2018.
