Sapphire RX Vega 56 Pulse has been officially revealed with an unexpectedly high price tag and now Sapphire has confirmed that release date for its upcoming custom GPU.
Sapphire has confirmed that the upcoming Sapphire RX Vega 56 Pulse will be available on February 12, 2018. However, given the GPU shortage going on thanks to Cryptocurrency miners, this GPU’s price might also increase from its MSRP.
AMD has announced that Mike Rayfield is the new Senior Vice President and General Manager of Radeon Technologies Group and David Wang will act as the new Senior Vice President of Engineering.
“Mike and David are industry leaders who bring proven track records of delivering profitable business growth and leadership product roadmaps. We enter 2018 with incredible momentum for our graphics business based on the full set of GPU products we introduced last year for the consumer, professional, and machine learning markets. Under Mike and David’s leadership, I am confident we will continue to grow the footprint of Radeon across the gaming, immersive, and GPU compute markets.”
AMD doesn’t think that the departure of Raja Koduri to lead the discrete graphics business for Intel will have any impact of the GPU business but, according to Nvidia, this is a great loss for AMD.
Raja leaving AMD is a great loss for AMD, and it’s a recognition by Intel probably that the GPU is just incredibly important now. The modern GPU is not a graphics accelerator, we just left the letter “G” in there, but these processors are domain-specific parallel accelerators, and they are enormously complex, they are the most complex processors built by anybody on the planet today.
