Something is finally peeking over the horizon, almost a year after it was confirmed that a Nightwing movie adaptation will be joining the DC Extended Universe in the foreseeable future.
Responding to a fan on Twitter on the weekend, director Chris McKay stated that it is too early to be talking about casting. However, an update on how the project is coming along will be shared around Valentine’s Day next month.
This more or less confirms that fans will have to wait longer to know who exactly will be filling the shoes of Dick Grayson, the first Robin. That being said, there is the chance that the director teases something in terms of the plot or what other characters might be involved.
It was several months back when Dacre Montgomery, from Stranger Things, was rumored to have been locked in as the sidekick of Batman. McKay had to quickly shutter those rumor mills by revealing that absolutely no one has been cast yet. He further added that they will be taking their time to find the “perfect person” for the main role because they need the movie to “blow your mind” once it hits theaters.
Warner Bros. has yet to announce a release date for the Nightwing movie. For now, the project looks to be hovering around 2020 or 2021, alongside Man of Steel 2.
The promised update on the upcoming adaptation is not the only thing that will be flooding the newsfeed next month. 20th Century Fox is strongly reported to be releasing the first debut trailer of Deadpool 2 on Valentine’s Day as well. The date has significance for both Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, and the distributor because it was when the first movie officially premiered to smash the box office two years back.
