The time for Blizzard’s “hype for new content” has officially commenced with the announcement of the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Alpha being available. The build may not be playable yet but since it’s now installed, data mining can begin.
As of today, the patch 8.0 is now on the alpha test client, meaning that influencers and “VIPs” may start playing even today if Blizzard hands out keys. For everyone else, we’ll have to take a look at what data miners found, if we are experienced enough to go through all of it and understand the terms. All datamined content can also be found on Wowhead and MMO-Champion.
First of all, we now have a vast collection of new models. Main character NPCs, enemies, mounts and even bosses can be found in the data mined files. What’s interesting is the graphic detail on those models, something World of Warcraft isn’t popular for. Anduin and Jaina can be found in there along with Queen Azshara and Katherine Proudmoore.
There’s also an in-depth guide to Class changes and new spells and racial traits available on both sites, using mined data, which is a bit too much to go through if you are not a hardcore World of Warcraft fan. However, those changes are not final and will be under constant updates until the game launches, so make sure to not have your heart broken about your favorite spell being nerfed yet.
What’s interesting in the datamined files of the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Alpha is the fact that there’s a new cap on profession ranks, maxing them out at 100 skill rather than 800 in Legion. There are also new items that let you upgrade your crafting skills in more than one way. Make sure to also take a look at the new maps of Gilneas, Kul Tiras, Stormsong, Ruins of Lordaeron enc. as well as models of the Zandalari Troll Druid Form.
World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth will be released for PC through Blizzard App sometime in 2018. Due to the fact that the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Alpha has just become available, it’s safe to say that the expansion won’t be out before summer 2018.
