Code Vein in Bandai Namco’s next big IP featuring Souls-like combat along with anime graphics. In new footage video featuring Code Vein from Taipei Game Show in Taiwan, Bandai Namco showed the main character roaming around the in-game hub called Home Base.
From what we can see, the Home Base in Code Vein is a remodeled chapel where your character can interact with NPCs and merchants such as Mia, Io, Coco, Yakumo, Rin, and Davis. The aforementioned characters were issued in this week’s Famitsu. The popular Japanese magazine states about the Home Base:
“This old remodeled chapel is actually a sort of fortress for the players, where they can meet various merchants and NPCs, including Davis, who is busy exploring the Depths, or the merchant Coco, who sells rare items. Murasame also sells weapons and improves its equipment thanks to the transformation. By embarking on some missions related to the various NPCs, players will also be able to increase their Affinity and thus have the opportunity to obtain even more powerful objects from them.”
In the Home Base, you’ll also be able to upgrade and purchase new weapons and armor as well as accept and browse quests. It’s here where you can also talk to your companions and change your costume, hair etc.
All revenants in the base are tied to a “familiarity” mechanic. You can interact with them and get more familiarity points in exchange. As it gets higher, you can obtain various items, and they will become more valuable as things go on.
In related news, Bandai Namco has revealed that players will be able to collect special weapons in Code Vein that will be scattered throughout the dungeons in the game. Not only that, players will be able to strengthen or upgrade their weapons using “special assets and Haze”.
Code Vein is set for release in 2018 with no official launch date yet. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
