Warhammer 40,000 fans have cause to rejoice this year in gaming, as Games Workshop and Focus Home Interactive have released a Warhammer 40,000 Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 reveal trailer. The game is slated to be coming out exclusively on the PC sometime this year, though we don’t have a full release date as of yet.
The first Battlefleet Gothic game came out back in 2016 to fairly positive reviews, and it got a number of different races to it such as the Tau and Space Marines after launch. The game took place during the Twelfth Black Crusade, also known as the Gothic War. Players took on the role of Admiral Spire, an officer of the Imperium of Man who took command of the Imperium’s space navy in the Gothic Sector in order to prevent the Chaos lord Abaddon the Despoiler from destroying the sector. However, in Warhammer 40,000 Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2, the circumstances are much more dire, and much grander.
The game takes place during the “Gathering Storm” story arc of Warhammer 40,000, quite possibly the most status quo-upending story arc in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The planet of Cadia, the chief barrier against the Chaos hordes in the Eye of Terror, has been destroyed, leaving Chaos free to spread into the rest of the galaxy. The Eldar are beginning to birth the Eldar god of Death, Ynnead, in order to try and destroy the Chaos God Slaanesh.
Roboute Guilliman, the Primarch of the Imperium’s Ultramarines who has been in a state of suspended animation for millennia, has been reborn and now leads the Imperium against its myriad enemies. And to top it all off the robotic Necrons, the cruel raiding vessels of the Dark Eldar, and the endless, all-devouring swarms of the Tyranids, are also entering the fray.
Having so many factions all together is sure to make Warhammer 40,000 Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 even more nuts than the original game was, but hopefully this game will be even better than the first one. Battlefleet Gothic 2 will be releasing sometime this year. You can see the game’s reveal trailer up above.
