Compare The First 15 Minutes Of The Shadow of the Colossus Remake To The Original
With the Shadow of the Colossus remake slated to be coming out in February, some enterprising YouTube channel has decided to see just how much better-looking the remake is over the original. While Shadow of the Colossus’s environments looked great, its remake is an entirely different beast, in a good way.
With all of the upgraded hardware that the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro have over the Playstation 3 and Playstation 2, of course the remake is going to look better than any other version of the game before it, but the remake also gives us the opportunity to see more of the beautiful environments that we saw in The Last Guardian, Team ICO’s other recent release.
In addition to the game’s lighting, players can also notice that the game’s detailing on the stone faces of its numerous ruins are a great deal more visible; players can now see the seams where the stone bricks fit together, how the light plays over the stones as Wander brings his dead love to the Temple of Dormin, and more. In a more minor detail, the game’s cloth physics are much better.
Wander dramatically sweeping the sheet off of his dead love and sending it fluttering to the ground looks much better than in the original game, and Wander’s cape actually flutters in the wind, along with the game’s upgraded visuals in general.
With the Shadow of the Colossus remake getting so close to release, it has a lot of ground to make up, both in terms of veteran players that they need to impress, and with all of those people who have never played the game before but have high expectations after constantly hearing about how the game is one of the best games ever made.
Players can pick up the Shadow of the Colossus remake on February 6 on the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro. If you want to see the first 15 minutes of the new version compared to the old, you can watch it above.
