AMD Raven Ridge Mobile Chips Feature 15W TDP And Could Haunt Intel

We talked about AMD Raven Ridge chips for desktop that feature up to 4 cores and 8 threads and come with AMD Vega graphics. Here we are going to talk about the AMD Raven Ridge Mobile that are coming out for the notebook market. At the lower end, we have chips that come with 2 cores and 4 threads but there are versions that also feature 4 cores and 8 threads.

AMD Raven Ridge Mobile Specifications And Performance

All these AMD Raven Ridge Mobile chips will come with AMD Vega graphics so you can expect to see better performance as compared to Intel HD graphics and we have already seen some benchmarks in games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Battlefield 1.

The specifications of AMD Raven Ridge chips are as follows:

SKU Cores /
CPU clock /
Graphics Shaders Max. GPU clock TDP
Ryzen 7 2700U 4/8 2.2 / 3.8 GHz Vega 10 Mobile 640 1,300 MHz 15W

Ryzen 5 2500U 4/8 2.0 / 3.6 GHz Vega 8 Mobile 512 1,100 MHz 15W
Ryzen 3 2300U 4/4 2.0 / 3.4 GHz Vega 6 Mobile 384 1,100 MHz 15W
Ryzen 3 2200U 2/4 2.5 / 3.4 GHz Vega 3 Mobile 192 1,100 MHz 15W

The TDP is very low and this means that you can expect to see great battery life from devices that will use these chips. These chips will start coming out February 12th, but for now, you can check out how well these chips perform as compared to Intel HD graphics and Nvidia MX 150 graphics. Be sure to check out the video below.

AMD Raven Ridge Mobile seems to be very impressive indeed and the graphics performance is way better than Intel HD graphics. AMD Vega could prove to be a huge selling point when it comes out for laptops next month. It will be interesting to see how people react to these new devices and how fast these go out the door.

If you have already got an AM4 motherboard then you need not worry as these upcoming chips will be fully compatible with current motherboards and AMD is going to keep the AM4 platform till 2020. This is of course for the desktop market. This is something that we can all appreciate and something that we do not see on the Intel side of things.

We will let you more about these chips when they come out so stay tuned for more information regarding AMD Raven Ridge Mobile.
